Registration Fee and Event Update
Hi everyone,
Happy Valentines Day! I hope you are all as excited as we are for the Quackathon! 25 days left to go until the event. We wanted to send a quick update with additional information.
Registration Fee
As you may have noticed, there is a registration fee of $5 for the event. This will help us pay for the prizes, t-shirts, and additional goodies we hand out at the event. The fee covers registration, a t-shirt, an accessory, and additional goodies. We have been looking into ways to collect this from participants ahead of time and have finally come up with a solution. We are using TicketLeap to sell tickets to the event. When you purchase a ticket you will select the skill level you would like to participate in. Beginner or Advanced. When you register and pay for the ticket you will officially be all signed up and ready for the event. This will help us take attendance and keep track of which competition participants are in.
Beginner or Advanced which to pick?
Some of you may be wondering, what is the difference between the two?
Beginner is for those who have limited experience in coding or do not feel confident in their coding skills. This is for people generally new to coding or Hackathons.
Advanced is for those who have taken several coding classes or have experience in programming. This is for people who have been to a Hackathon before or are experienced coders.
Why the two sections?
We wanted to give everyone, no matter the age or skill level, the opportunity to compete on an equal playing field and win. We have plenty of prizes up for grabs and you should feel like you can obtain them.
Sponsors and Additional Steps
We are lucky enough to be sponsored by Major League Hacking this year. They are helping us to provide you with plenty of food and snacks for the event so you have the energy you need to code. This means that we need you to register for our hackathon on their website as well. They need to see everyone who plans to attend. If you could take 2 minutes to follow this link and sign up for our hackathon there as well that would be awesome!
Thank you all for joining us for our event. We are so excited to host it and can't wait to see you all on Saturday, March 11th!
